Biography

About Meredith Tucker
Meredith Tucker is a bloggerette, web designer, perfumer, and all-around crafty chica who hails from the just-as-rainy-as-they-said-it'd-be city of Seattle, WA. She currently works as a freelance design consultant for Filter and has previously worked for prestigious local companies like Microsoft and KEXP 90.3 FM in a variety of online capacities. If you would like to discuss a project with her, don't hesitate to send an e-mail.
Person Pitch
A Texas native, Meredith was hooked on Seattle in 2002 after a brief stay and too many nights watching Hype! and returned as a permanent resident in 2005. She's even since managed to drag a few others here, too. Meredith likes loud music, especially if horns are involved & the word "ska" is somewhere in the title (Bim Skala Bim, The Skatellites, Skankin' Pickle—you get the picture?). She has, at one time or another, considered herself a guitarist, a trumpet player, and a pianist with few early delusions of rock and roll. She is currently looking for gals interested in an all-girl, Tom Waits cover band. Her CD collection will not fit into the shelves in her living room and certainly doesn't leave much room to spin any of that vinyl. If you didn't think she was obsessive before now, you should see her perfume collection.
Meredith spends most evenings with her ever-handsome, ever-brilliant software developer boyfriend that she met at the Penny Arcade Expo last summer. They largely drink a lot of wine and play a lot of video games (on her shiny Wii), or sit at a coffee shop down the street and read, or explore their fair city, or drink beer and have geeky conversations about web developing. Her most recent addiction, as a result of their relationship, is Magic: The Gathering. She finally learned how to cook (her favorite food is Italian), and stopped discounting everything her mother ever taught her. She has become a horrible foodie with a bad crush on Anthony Bourdain. She particularly enjoys B-movies, especially if six-demon-bags and Kim Cattrall are involved. She gives bonus points to bands who sing songs about such movies.
Lastly, in an answer to a recent question: No, she is not quite the rebel she was in her former life.

Meredith received a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Languages with a focus on Linguistics from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. She has also studied Uzbek, French, and Spanish. As an undergrad, she completed a summer quarter in the intensive language study program at the University of Washington, and another summer semester in St. Petersburg, Russia at St. Petersburg State University. She longs for her motherland, especially on cold, windy days. (She bears her Russian soul in this slideshow.)
When she wasn't busy studying or traveling, Meredith wrote for The Daily Toreador, and hosted two radio programs on KTXT 88.1 FM. Her Freshman and Sophomore year, she was a marketing assistant for the Texas Tech University Press. Her Junior and Senior year, she was President of the Russian Culture Club and a member the Russian Honors Society. Between 2002 and 2004, Sweet Anthem acted as the moniker for a small zine and chapbook press as well as distributor that Meredith ran out of her living room.
